- Young & Co’s Brewery SW18, Wandsworth, production relocated to Charles Wells, Bedford, though non-commercial brewing continues on site as Ram Brewery.

I see you’ve arranged the breweries by London borough: a trifle misleading, I believe, eg, while Fuller’s is indeed in the borough of Hounslow, its more easily recognised address is Chiswick, which is five miles from Hounslow proper, and gives a very different message. Similarly Twickenham Fine Ales is, of course, in Twickenham, and not, as the casual reader might assume from seeing its address given as “Richmond upon Thames”, across the river in Richmond. Just a small point!
Hi Martyn and thanks for this. Actually the breweries are arranged alphabetically but yes, I’ve given the first part of the postcode and the London borough in these lists. If you click on the individual entries, you’ll find the full postal address including postcode, plus the post town if it’s not London, so it’s easy to find the location. At one point I was linking all the postcodes to Google Maps but life’s too short and people can easily look it up for themselves. The reason I’ve done it this way is that there are no other universally agreed ways of giving London localities. Chiswick and Twickenham are pretty clear, I don’t think anyone would disagree on them and they correspond to old parish divisions. But what about Moncada’s current site by the North Circular — is it in Dollis Hill, Brent Cross, where? Signal and the relocated Anspach & Hobday will tell you they’re in Croydon, and they have CR0 postcodes, but they’re actually just in Sutton and some locals call the area Beddington. The easiest way of avoiding arguments is to use the postcode and the borough, as the one is clearly defined by the Royal Mail and the other by statute. What I should do is be clear about the system in the various index pages.
