London breweries 2002

1 opening, no closures, net change +1.

By the end of 2002, there were 16 commercial breweries operating in London, including seven brewpubs. 2 were part of multinational groups (M). These breweries were:

  7. Haggards Brewery (Imperial Arms) SW8,
  8. Mash W1, Westminster,
  9. Meantime Brewing SE18, Greenwich
  10. Pacific Oriental EC2, of London,
  11. Pitfield Brewery N1, Hackney
  12. Sans-culottes (Brasserie les) WC2, Camden,
  13. Sweet William Brewery (King William IV) E10, Waltham Forest,
  14. Young & Co’s Brewery SW18,
  15. Zebrano W1, Westminster, brewpub
  16. Zerodegrees Blackheath SE3, Lewisham, brewpub

Other changes

  • Anheuser-Busch UK, which previously rented the Stag brewery from Scottish Courage, buys the brewery outright.
  • Freedom Soho sold to new owners, becoming Zebrano
